Replacing the original C.S. Mott Children's Hospital and Women's Hospital, the new facility increases pediatric inpatient bed capacity, increases birthing capacity to allow 4,500 - 5,000 births annually, increases surgical capacity and improves parent and family accommodations creating an environment focused on family-centered care.
Barton Malow constructed the 775,000-sq.ft. inpatient facility including 11 levels with a basement. The new outpatient clinic facility with medical office spaces adds 225,000-sq.ft. to the new hospital including 10 levels with a basement. The basement level within the outpatient facility houses the central plant for the complex and the rooftop provides cooling towers, while the inpatient facility has its 5th and 6th floors dedicated to mechanical space.
